Who We Are

The LEARN Canvassing Program actively seeks out and amplifies the voices of Denver residents regarding public education. By employing community members to conduct door-to-door outreach, LEARN directly engages with families and individuals across the city to understand their priorities and visions for the future of Denver's schools. This extensive effort ensures that education policies and advocacy are informed by the real needs and perspectives of the community.

Focus groups have served as crucial community conversations held across different regions of the city. These small group settings were designed to deeply explore policy priorities related to mental health, safety, and academics. Through thoughtful questions and a commitment to a continuous learning cycle, the aim of these sessions was to ensure that any resulting recommendations were genuinely built by and centered around the community's needs and perspectives.

The Southwest Education Council brought together parents, educators, and community members to collaboratively build a creative vision for the future of education in the southwest region of Denver. These gatherings centered on deep conversations, meaningful dialogue, and the sharing of resources, all aimed at supporting collaborations, partnerships, and collective impact within the community.

Omar D. Blair, a public charter school for grades K-8, utilized support in the 2024-25 school year to boost family engagement, student enrollment and retention. Through focus groups with students, educators, and families, the school identified areas for enhancing community engagement. These efforts, supported by Denver Families for Public Schools, led to a successful rebranding initiative that fostered a sense of "fresh start" within the school community.

Fueled by our belief in the power of community engagement, Denver Families staff and partners consistently volunteer with the Montbello Organizing Committee. Twice a month we gather at the Montbello Recreation Center parking lot to distribute food boxes, actively supporting our neighbors and strengthening community ties.
