Denver Families for Public Schools was born from the shared mission and collaborative efforts of RootED Denver and the original Denver Families for Public Schools, two organizations committed to improving education equity and access in Denver.
Originally called Blue School Partners, RootED Denver was established in 2017 with a focus on providing strategic funding and support to Denver Public Schools (DPS) and community-based organizations. By investing in innovative school models, strategic support, and community-driven solutions, RootED worked to expand access to high-quality education for all students, especially those historically underserved.
Denver Families for Public Schools began in 2021 as a grassroots movement to elevate the voices of parents, caregivers, and educators in shaping the future of Denver’s education system. Through its listening campaigns and leadership development programs, the organization empowered families to advocate for policies and practices that align with their communities’ values and priorities.
In 2024, these two organizations united to amplify their impact under the shared name Denver Families for Public Schools. Together, we continue to build on our legacy of advocacy, collaboration, and community investment to create a stronger, more inclusive education system that serves every child in Denver.
