Claudia Carrillo is a former Denver Public Schools student in southwest Denver and mother of three students who also attend DPS schools in southwest Denver. Claudia was a preschool teacher in an inclusive classroom for 10 years. In the process of teaching, she learned that her biggest passion was advocating for others.
Claudia began by attending meetings at her son’s school. She then found other parents and organizations that support parent advocacy. That began Claudia’s path of advocating for her children.
Claudia’s hopes to make a change in her community by supporting other parents and students. She wants the DPS board to support students in getting the best free education possible and wants everyone to understand that inclusion is very important.
