Carol Bowar (she/her) brings a wealth of experience in education, leadership development, and nonprofit management. Carol started with RootED in 2024 as the Director of School Quality, and will continue this work to support school partners and leaders at Denver Families. She previously served as Executive Director of Girls Athletic Leadership Schools (GALS) Denver, where she was also a founding board member.
Carol’s career has focused on creating opportunities for youth and advancing gender equity. She has held leadership roles such as COO of KIPP Colorado Schools, President & CEO of Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, and Director of Curriculum and Career Services at GlobaLinks Learning Abroad. Her expertise in gender-focused programming and adolescent development stems from her work at organizations like Girls Inc., as well as consulting with the National Center for Women and Information Technology.
A passionate advocate for education and leadership, Carol has also worked internationally and held roles at Up with People, the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation, and KaBoom!, among others.
Carol holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is the parent of three children.
