Boni Sanchez Flores

Boni is a first-generation educator with a bachelor’s degree in American Cultural Studies and a master’s degree in social work. He was born in a small Ñuu Savi (Indigenous Mixteco) village in Oaxaca, Mexico, and was brought to the United States as a child by my migrant farmworker parents.

Both of Boni’s parents come from a village where education is a privilege, not a right. Growing up in Washington state and doing agricultural work as a child during the summer, he realized how important it is in this country to get an education.

Boni now works for DPS as parent/community liaison where he centers community voices in an organic and genuine way. His work empowers parents to advocate for support from the individual level to the systematic level by working with other organizations both inside and outside of school.
