Board Treasurer - Partner with City Fund

Ethan Gray is a Partner at City Fund and City Fund Action, working with local leaders across the country to increase the number of children who have access to high quality public school options in their cities. He also leads CF/CFA internal work on charter school authorizing and school accountability.

Gray is the former Founder and CEO of Education Cities, where he convened and advised leaders of city-based non-profits on strategies that resulted in the growth of hundreds of high-quality public schools impacting tens of thousands of students across the country. Gray has extensive experience in city-wide school system transformation, education policy, and non-profit leadership.

Gray’s writing has appeared in The 74 Million, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute’s Flypaper Blog, Education Sector, and Bellwether.

Gray began his career as policy director at Be the Change, inc. where he led the development of a national service expansion plan that strongly influenced the bi-partisan Serve America Act. While vice president of The Mind Trust in Indianapolis, he helped develop the Creating Opportunity Schools plan to transform Indianapolis Public Schools which has provided tens of thousands of Indianapolis students access to improved school options over the past 10+ years. He is an honors graduate of Harvard College and holds a master’s in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Gray lives in Bend, OR with his wife, son, and small adventure dog. He serves on the boards of Denver Families for Public Schools, Excellent Schools New Mexico, High Desert Chamber Music, and The Putney School.
